Build Stronger Teeth

About Me

Build Stronger Teeth

Everyone knows the basics of good dental care. Brush your teeth after every meal, floss every day, see your dentist at least twice a year. It sounds simple. But what if you still don’t have strong, healthy teeth? Weak enamel can be a genetic weakness, or it can be caused by other conditions, like Celiac disease. I’ve always had weak enamel, so I started looking into ways that I could increase the strength of my teeth, and found that dietary changes could make a big difference. I started this blog to share my experience, and to talk about other ways you can make your teeth stronger and healthier. There are lots of things that you can do to improve your dental health. You just have to find them.

4 Rules To Follow After You Have Cosmetic Treatment Done

Cosmetic treatment is something that you may have gone through if you wanted to fix your smile. You either wanted to replace any missing teeth you had, whiten the teeth that have yellowed over time, or fixed any crookedness or chipped teeth in the mouth. After you have had cosmetic treatment done, you want to be sure that you care for it properly. This ensures that the treatment lasts and you won't have to undergo the same treatment again in the future. Here are four rules to follow after you have had cosmetic treatment done:

  1. Don't Try to Whiten Fake Teeth: If you have crowns, bridges, dentures, or implants, you will not be able to whiten those teeth. This is why you don't want to use over the counter teeth whitening products for your teeth since it will make your natural teeth stand apart from the fake teeth. Instead, you should visit your cosmetic dentist to talk about what you can do to whiten both your natural and fake teeth. If you want your natural teeth to better match your fake teeth, your cosmetic dentist will have a special teeth whitening technique to make that happen for you.
  2. Avoid Certain Foods: The teeth whitening process is one that can be successful with few treatments only if you are avoiding certain foods that can take away from the whiteness of your teeth really quickly. For example, dark condiments can affect the whiteness of your smile, such as soy sauce, ketchup, and even tomato sauce. Coffee, tea, and red wine is also something that can stain your teeth quickly. Avoid these foods as best as you can.
  3. Chew Gum: Not many people realize this, but chewing gum can actually be beneficial for your teeth, but only if you are chewing the right gum. You will want to choose sugarless gum. The reason gum chewing can be good for your teeth is because it helps produce more saliva in the mouth. Your mouth needs saliva production because it neutralizes acid in the mouth, which is a common cause of tooth decay. If you want to avoid further tooth decay, chewing gum can definitely be helpful.
  4. Quit Smoking: If you are a smoker, having cosmetic procedures can be pointless. This is because smoking causes tooth decay and it stains your teeth. There is a much higher chance of you losing teeth and having extremely yellow teeth that will constantly need to undergo cosmetic treatment unless you choose to quit the habit.

By following these four rules, you can be sure that any treatment you undergo from a top cosmetic dentist will last a long time and be worth it in the end.
