Build Stronger Teeth

Build Stronger Teeth

Everyone knows the basics of good dental care. Brush your teeth after every meal, floss every day, see your dentist at least twice a year. It sounds simple. But what if you still don’t have strong, healthy teeth? Weak enamel can be a genetic weakness, or it can be caused by other conditions, like Celiac disease. I’ve always had weak enamel, so I started looking into ways that I could increase the strength of my teeth, and found that dietary changes could make a big difference. I started this blog to share my experience, and to talk about other ways you can make your teeth stronger and healthier. There are lots of things that you can do to improve your dental health. You just have to find them.

3 Questions To Ask During Your Invisalign Consultation

There are various reasons why you may want to seek out orthodontic treatment. Crowded, crooked, and misaligned teeth can detract from your smile. These issues can also be uncomfortable to deal with. Braces are often the solution to misaligned or crooked teeth. They can also be used to close gaps and fix bite issues. There are various types of braces to choose from, ranging from traditional metal to clear plastic aligners such as Invisalign. If you are thinking about Invisalign, here are three things to ask during your consultation.

Will it Work for Your Needs?

The first question you should ask is whether or not Invisalign braces can treat your orthodontic issues. There are a variety of benefits to going with Invisalign over traditional braces. The aligners can be easily removed and allow you to eat, drink, and brush and floss normally. However, during your consultation it's key to ask if this treatment will work for your case. Invisalign can be used to treat overbite, underbite, gap teeth, open bite, cross bite, and crowded teeth for both baby and permanent teeth, as well as general alignment issues.

How Much Does it Cost?

Of course, another thing that you will need to discuss during your Invisalign consultation is how much it will cost. Costs can vary depending on the complexity of your treatment as well as the expected length of your treatment. The average cost of Invisalign is between $3,300 and $6,200. In some cases your dental insurance may cover up to $2,500 of the total cost. If you lose an aligner, it will typically cost $100 to replace, or $200 if you need to replace a set of aligners. If you are unable to pay the total cost upfront, many orthodontists offer payment plans.

How Long Will Treatment Take?

During your consultation with an Invisalign specialist you will also want to discuss the estimated length of your treatment. How long treatment will take will vary depending on your case and how well you follow the treatment plan. On average it takes 12 to 18 months for your treatment to be complete. During this time you will need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day and have them changed out every one to two weeks depending on your treatment plan.

When it comes to Invisalign, there are a few things to ask during your consultation to help you determine if it's the right orthodontic treatment for your needs. First, you will want to discuss whether or not your particular issues can be treated with Invisalign. Costs can also vary so it's important to get an estimate of how much you will have to pay. Treatment can take anywhere from 12 to 18 months on average.
