I started this blog to share my experience, and to talk about other ways you can make your teeth stronger and healthier. There are lots of things that you can do to improve your dental health. You just have to find them.

In some cases, it is hereditary. Another cause is friction. If you have the habit of placing your tongue against your teeth, you may be unwittingly creating a gap between them. Here are five dental treatments that could close the gap between your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

Your dentist can use a case that is made out of porcelain veneer to close the gap between your teeth. This is not a lengthy treatment. Your dentist will fashion a case that will mimic the appearance of your natural teeth and fit them in your mouth. This is similar to the type of porcelain veneers that you will normally use when trying to achieve the perfect smile.

Retainers and Braces

Just as retainer and braces are used to fix crooked teeth, they could also be one to correct the gap between your teeth. The dentist will tell you how long you will need to wear the retainer or braces to correct the gap between your teeth.

Bonding

Your dentist can use a resin material to close the gap between your teeth. The resin takes on the natural texture and color of your teeth. This material is shaped and sculpted so that it is a perfect fit between your teeth.

Surgery

Sometimes the gap between your teeth is caused by excess tissue. If this is the case, your dentist could remove this tissue surgically. Sometimes, you will need to wear a retainer or braces after the surgery to further close the gap.

Teeth Bands

These bands are similar to rubber bands and they fit over your teeth at night to try to close the gap. Over time, these bands will reduce the gap between your teeth. This is not always the safest type of treatment, however. Some dentists will not use tooth bands on certain patients since they could cause pain or move straight teeth out of alignment.
